Day 3: Camelback ranch: Los Angeles Dodgers

It has been an exhausting three days full of baseball and travel, but today we make our last stop of a tour of spring training. We end this trip by visiting Camelback Ranch, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox. The Dodgers and the White Sox have called Camelback Ranch their home for almost 18 years, which is one of the longest spring homes for any Major-League Baseball team. Camelback Ranch is in Glendale, AZ and can hold up to 13,000 fans. Camelback Ranch is one of the most unique Spring Training homes considering it plays host to two major league ball clubs.

Camelback Ranch is an amazing view for any baseball fan, from the street view fans can see the Dodgers and the White Sox buildings signifying something special. We arrived early and did not have to pay for parking. I don’t know if this is a regular thing or an early bird special. (So, recommendation is to arrive early). One thing that was kind of rough to endure early on was the things they allow you to bring, they are very cautious on what you bring inside, so make sure you pack light, Things from camera equipment to food is prohibited (compared to Sloan Park, where we pretty much brought the whole camera equipment and team in).

Once we entered Camelback Ranch, it was like the doors to baseball heaven were opened. There were practice fields as far as the eye can see and activities all over the place. A beautiful river and pond in the center of all the fields and majestic Dodgers and White Sox signs through the ballpark. During the time we were there, it was a Dodgers home game. So, we went to see them take batting practice on a separate field. Most people crowded around the fence hoping to see their favorite ball player or get an autograph. Once they were done they made their way to the main field which is where they check your tickets and your bag one more time.

Once you enter your eyes will open up, this park is huge and has a very open look to it. Lots of concessions all around the ballpark and theirs is not a bad view from any seat. We attended a game on Sunday and to our surprise there was not that many people, this gave us freedom to walk all over the ballpark, talk to players and mingle with other fans. Overall this was probably my favorite ballpark. The reason is because there is plenty to do before the game and there is plenty to do during the game. Especially if you are there with children who love to run around.

During our time at spring training all tickets were purchased from stubhub.
